High West Campfire Batch 22F29 is a blend of High West Rye (100% Rye), MGP Rye (95/5), MGP Bourbon (21% rye) and a peaty blend of Scottish Malts (100% Malted Barley). It has a nice new label, but like with the Midwinter night, it’s missing some legally required information.
Seriously High West, get your act together again. You used to be so good at putting required things like State of Distillation on your labels and now you’re acting like an inexperienced craft distiller with these games. Your fans expect better of you.
Now, let’s get to drinkin’!

High West Campfire Batch 22F29 – Overall Thoughts and Score
Three-word Summary: Smoked candied fruit.
This is one of the best batches of Campfire I’ve had in a while. It’s led by the peated Scotch, and while it does sit heavy, it’s balanced out with the rye and bourbon notes floating through. It’s subtly complex and that Scotch heaviness is not a bad thing here… so long as you like peated Scotch.
If you don’t like peated whisky, then you should avoid the Campfire series as a whole, but if you enjoy it, and also enjoy American Whiskey, then this is a great hybrid drinker that will satisfy both sides. The High West Campfire Batch 22F29 also makes one heck of a Blood and Sand, FYI.
SCORE: 4/5 (good, definitely recommend ~ B+ | 87-89)
