Ever wonder what it would be like if Jameson used more sherry casks in their whiskey? If you did, then the answer to your question is Jameson Crested and it has one of the most unique profiles among the Jameson core line. Well, this and the Jameson Black Barrel. Both of which have significant changes to the standard.
Not much else to say about the Crested other than like the rest of the Jameson core line it’s a low ABV (40%) and chill filtered. So, on to the Irish Whiskey review.
Jameson Crested Review: Details and Tasting Notes
“Back in the day it was common practice to sell Irish whiskey to bonders by the cask. Then, it was left up to them to bottle it. In 1963, after some greedy bonders started to water down the whiskey to fill up their pockets, we took over full control of the process, from grain to glass. Jameson Crested is a celebration of those first drops bottled back in Bow Street.”

Jameson Crested Review: Overall and Score
Woah, I can’t believe this is a “standard” Jameson product. There is so much sherry and pot still influences in here that it’s just… confusing. I’m used to the grain character showing more than it does and it being an overall a light whiskey, but this… this is great, I could easily drink this any day of the week and be happy about it.
The aroma is creamy and buttery in its delivery as is the palate and the finish. It’s an elegant whiskey that just feels good drifting through the senses. As the Jameson Crested opens, the sherry does dip a bit and a roasted banana / Banana’s Foster note starts to rise up and become more prominent, but it never dominates. The whiskey keeps a nice balance and I’m enjoying everything about it.
SCORE: 86/100 (B)

What’s did you find this for sale in the US? I can’t find it anywhere and it apparently isn’t sold here. Thanks!
Typo sorry… *Where* did you find this?
I didn’t find it in the US. I ordered it through the Celtic Whiskey shop. Read some rumors about it coming to the US next year though. We’ll see if those are true.
Last year we went to Portugal and Spain for vacation. While we we in Porto, we had one of the famous Francesinha sandwiches at O Alfonso (Frequented by the late Antony Bourdain) for lunch. When you order coffee, they set a bottle of Jameson on the table too. We initially got a bottle of the standard Jameson. We had spotted a bottle of the Crested on the table opposite us. None of us was familiar with it so we requested a swap. We all really enjoyed it. It has much more body and taste than the standard Jameson. A pleasant find. (I am generally reluctant to buy Jameson of any sort because I find it bland. I much prefer Powers Johns Lane 12, Redbreast Lustau, Method and Madness or the Gael)
“I much prefer Powers Johns Lane 12, Redbreast Lustau, Method and Madness or the Gael” <- You and I are in the same boat, I LOVE that Johns Lane 12! That's an awesome story and even more awesome the restaurant does that and you got to try it there. So cool, cheers Bruce!
