Aberfeldy 19 Years Manager’s Dram Review

Aberfledy 19 Years Manager's Dram Review

There isn’t a lot about the Aberfeldy 19 Years Manager’s Dram online. In fact, the most useful information I found came from The Whiskey Exchange who said it’s “a rare Manager’s Dram bottling produced for United Distillers’ staff only in October 1991”. Outside of stating the obvious that this is aged in first fill sherry casks (possibly even utilizing some paxarette) the only other information I can give you is in the Aberfeldy 19 Years Manager’s Dram review below.

Aberfeldy 19 Years Manager’s Dram Review

EYE
Dried blood

NOSE
Heavy wave of sherry and nuts followed by layers of malt, butterscotch, old funky oak, leather, spice, bitter orange, dark fruit and grass.

PALATE
Sherry and oak coat the palate and lighter notes of nuts, caramel, malt, butterscotch, leather, sulfur, pepper, spice and orange cream dance across the top.

FINISH
Long winding finish of sherry, oak, spice, mint, leather, butterscotch and dried dark fruit. As nice as the palate was this might be my favorite part.

BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
Decent balanced, full body, oily dense feel.

OVERALL
Aberfeldy 19 Years Manager’s Dram is a thick heavy whisky that dances on the line of an A. Dark and chewy it screams sherry bomb and hangs just shy of being overbearing, that precarious balance is what pushed it up from being an A -. It’s a big, dark, chewy whisky with a dense sticky aroma and carries a nice weight through the senses. It’s a great whisky and I’d be thrilled to get to try it again.

SCORE: 93-97/100 (A, consumed at a tasting)

Big thanks to SFAlex for the tasting!
