The Amrut Fusion Single Malt is the first Indian whisky I ever had… and it is phenomenal. It’s among the most intricate, complex, and flavorful whiskies I’ve tasted recently and can easily be manipulated with water to express a myriad of flavors without destroying its essence. New flavors and aromas can easily be brought out splash by splash, making it a fun and evolving whisky drinking experience.
Amrut Fusion is made from both Indian malted barley and Indian malt smoke with Scottish peat. Each malt is distilled separately and then combined in ex-bourbon barrels. A unique approach to a unique whisky that’s worthy of sipping status and, like all whisky, it’s experienced best with friends. The shifting, swirling, morphing attribute of this whisky will ensure that everyone has something to talk about when it’s in their glasses.

Tasting Notes
EYE
Golden caramel and honey
NOSE
Such an interesting aroma. It starts out really sweet with notes of vanilla frosting, cane sugar, butterscotch and as it breathes, wisps of lemon and tropical fruit start to emerge. Throw in a bit of water and buttery caramel explodes. Being a peated malt a nice smokiness sits as a solid background to the entire experience.
PALATE
Intensely flavorful and complex; it seems like I pick out something new every time I drink it. First taste is of smoky anise, like smoked black licorice. It’s quickly followed up with a symphony of flavors that run the gamut of sweet and savory. Flavors like black coffee, buttered and sugared wheat toast, candied malt, creamy orange, tropical fruit, and a strong but not overwhelming peaty underpinning.
FINISH
Long and winding it starts with burly dark fruit that turns into earthy leather before dissolving into a soft green apple and coriander. A little dry, but only dry enough to make you want a second glass before reaching for some water… maybe a third.
BALANCE, BODY and FEEL
Well balanced, full-bodied and sporting a smooth silken feel.

Shall be glad to know the price of 750 ml bottle in Kerala
You’ll have to contact a local carrier to see the price there. I’m not familiar. Cheers
The back description says 46%, front says 50%. Which one is correct? Hope they are not rounding up!
The single barrel bourbon cask aged, 120 proof has been discounted at the LCBO for $74 CDN. Much better than the Fusion.
The PX Sherry cask was blown out at $64 and gone in a week from every store.
Amazing whisky’s for 4-5 years old. The Angel’s share on these is 43%.
Man those are some crazy good prices. Wish I could see blowouts like those here.
Cheers!
