1792 Full Proof Bourbon is not a cask strength bourbon, but is rather a high proof bourbon that’s had only enough water added to bring it down from full cask strength to its barrel entry proof which is 125 (62.5%). On their site they also make a special note to mention that this whiskey “underwent a distinct filtering process, forgoing the typical chill filtration, and only passing through a plate and frame filter.”
An interesting proof choice, but one I don’t disagree with. The statement however seems to intone that all of their other whiskeys are chill-filtered and while I assumed they were it still puts a frown on my face to read it. All of their whiskeys come in at odd ABVs and each one could be tweaked ever so slightly to come in at least at 46% and eliminate the chill filtering process all together.

1792 Full Proof Bourbon Review
EYE
Auburn
NOSE
Caramel, oak, spice, vanilla, chocolate cookies and a fruity core. A bit of spice helps keep things in-line and lends to the complexity that lives within. Some water opens it up a bit and brings a bit of citrus and biscuits to the surface.
PALATE
Chunks of dark fruit, baking spices and oak plough through followed by notes of bananas, apples and dark sweets. A light biscuity pop comes and goes while sipping.
FINISH
Long and oaky with notes of dark fruit, dark sweets, mint and biscuits keeping things interesting.
BALANCE, BODY & FEEL
Great balance, full round body and an oily heavy mouthfeel.
OVERALL
The 1792 Full Proof Bourbon has a full rich nose with the spice and oak balancing out the sweetness. The oak and spice stay strong to help balance out the sweetness on the palate as well. It’s a chewy full bourbon, but I wish it had a bit more depth to it. The high proof and non-chill filtering are great touches and deliver a mouthfeel that matches the flavor profile. I wouldn’t call this a fantastic bourbon, but I would call it a great one for sure.
SCORE: 88/100 (B+)

I’m a relative newcomer to bourbons over $50 but after reading this was voted the best in the world for 2019, I had to grab some @$65. Super hot! Annoyingly hot. After waiting for some time and adding some water it has a really nice cherry taste. I do agree that it lacks the depth.
Cheers Randall!
Its not bad, but its no Knob Creek single barrel. Both same price
This is a great whiskey for 47.00. I have several store picks and they are one of the best at that price point. A great daily in any comparison Well done
I saw this next to my ogd 114.might have to try it. how does it stand up to ogd 114 ?
Very different styles. I like both, but for different reasons. Though if push came to shove I’d probably take the OGD114 over this 2/3 times.
